Robert 鈥淏ob鈥 Benson
Robert 鈥淏ob鈥 Benson, a dedicated member of 麻豆视频 Facilities Services staff for 42 years, died on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, at his home in Saratoga Springs. He was 78.
Bob joined Skidmore in 1980 and retired as an electrician in 2022. Known for his skill, professionalism, and steady presence, Bob was a trusted colleague who played a vital role in keeping the College running smoothly for more than four decades.
鈥淏ob was dependable, thoughtful, and dedicated to the College,鈥 observed Facilities Office Coordinator Desiree Palmateer. 鈥淗e took great pride in his work and could always be counted on to get the job done right. And he was always a wonderful guy to be around.鈥
Born on Oct. 12, 1946, in Saratoga Springs, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran.
Bob is survived by his loving companion, Paula Carr; his sons, Robert Benson Jr. (Faith Willett) and Brad Benson (Jennifer Marcotte); his daughters, Rebecca Winslow (Bradley) and Tammy Morgan (Bill Morgan); his brother, Chuck Benson; his sisters, Dorothy Barret, Virginia Coon (Robert), and Allison Akins (Douglas); his grandchildren, Rachael, Kate, Idalia, Ava, Oliver, Sam, Joe, and Allison; his great-grandchildren, Kali, Kole, Kinley, Brandi, and Lucas; and many dear friends.
He was interred with military honors at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, in Schuylerville.
